Blog: What To Do When You’re Single on Valentine’s Day

By February 12, 2014Dating Tips

Single on Valentines DayI know, I know- it feels like the end of the world. February 14th is right around the corner and horror of all horrors- you are single. Every store you walk into is covered in little heart candies and every shape and size heart imaginable. We understand how it could make you feel like grabbing a few dozen bags of those little heart-wrapped chocolates and drowning your solo sorrows on the couch all weekend long- but before you do, try this on for size instead.

Put yourself out there. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to send you into the arms of some sloppy bar suitor- but getting yourself out into the world instead of sitting on the couch will make you feel ten times better, I promise. Now first off, let’s set the perimeters of where not to go: high-end restaurants, popular weekend getaway resorts, or the latest chick flick at the movie theater. These are all going to be couple-central this weekend and therefore not where you want to be.

If you are looking for a serious confidence boost, all of the clubs will surely be promoting some sort of valentine’s event that will draw out solo hopefuls like yourself- but be warned, this crowd isn’t looking for a ‘quality’ connection as much as a quick one.  My suggestion? Get a group of your single friends, doll yourselves up and head to a low-key pub. You will feel good about getting out and you might just meet some fun people in the process, much less pressure.

Or, if you don’t want to deal with all the hype, call in to Quest and have quality conversations with others doing the exact same thing. Putting yourself out there will help you avoid wallowing and make you feel like you have accomplished something with your day. And, if you meet someone you really connect with- all the better! Just don’t put too much pressure on yourself- have fun with it!
